How to do it? That's simple. Just follow these three easy steps.
Mixing Colours
Be sure to shake Pigment well before using them.
Add Pigment(s) to Base from the squeeze bottle one drop at a time, and mix
thoroughly. Remember the Pigments are very concentrated - so the more you
add, the darker the colour gets.
Add Resfix in proportion to the pigment. E.g. 1 drop of red = 1 drop of
Resfix.
Test the colours frequently on the same fabric that will be used until the
desired colour is achieved. The colour of the fabric will effect the colour
of the print, since both the Base and Pigments are transparent.
Once you have achieved the desired colour, you are ready to get to work.
Thinning Colour Vie
To thin the Base and Pigment mixture for painting, spraying or small batch
dyeing: add a small amount of table salt and stir.
Fabrics
Colour Vie Pigment System works on all natural fabrics. For synthetic
fabrics and blends it is necessary to add Anti-Bleed.
Heat Setting Fabric
Heat setting makes the fabric washable and dry cleanable. Heat set finished
designs when completely dry by ironing on the wrong side of the fabric
for 1 to 2 minutes with a medium to hot iron. Make sure you don't scorch
the fabric.
Helpful Hints.
It's so, so simple.
- Take into account the original colour of the fabric, since it affects the colour of pigment mixture.
- Colour Vie works best on white or pale coloured fabrics.
- If you work on dark fabrics, use Super Opaque White.
- Keep a log book for your mixing records. This will help you become more
familiar with the product's capabilities.
- Remember: Test, test and test again.
